CONOR OBERST IS A DRAMA QUEEN... there's a lot of noise out there about bright eyes. i won't add to it, because it would hardly convince you to change your mind about him either way. i'll just say that when i saw him at sanders theatre in cambridge at harvard, in this massive churchlike room, this song ellicited the most cheers. a roar after every other line. it has the potential to be one of his most famous songs.

supposedly a recorded version of this song is available for free download on itunes, and there's also a 12" of it circulating i believe, though saddle creek's store doesn't seem to have it. // see also--npr's stream of a recent show at the 9:30 club in washington d.c. FYI -- The recorded version of "When the President" was available as a promo-only white label 7" that indie retailers gave away with the new album. It's already going for like $25-40 on eBay. Ridiculous! (Thanks for the tip on downloading skillz at Fluxblog.)

Just so you know there actually is a recorded version on itunes and its FREE!! I don't know if its free forever but its definitely free right now.

this is a good version..it may be free on I tunes but not everyone is able or willing to sign up to this service and purchase an IPod...so thanks for this
