i could explain why i was gone, or why you don't care. in fact, if you're finding your way here as many people have every day despite my not having written/posted anything for months and months and months, you probably never read any of the old stuff anyways. so, a lot's changed. four more scary years of conservative hellscape. etc etc etc. on with the music!

neva dinova "ahh"
when i saw neva dinova live sometime last year they came off like a folky built to spill. all whammy bar and distortion. they sound like music for a bar, or just a beer and a rainy day. this album is a grower, and while the first time it all sortof blended together it slowly but steadily grew on me. it has a remarkably consistant sound over it's 11 tracks, which makes the glorious moments seem to stand out even that much more. narrowly beating out the end swelling chorus of closer "i've got a feeling" i picked "ahh" to share with you because of there's a moment around 2:30 that just makes me want to hear the song again and again "cause i'm living on mars / it don't hurt when it rains / it just shorts out my guitars" and they throw on some mild feedback. simple, and the kind of precious thing that oh-so-many-critics hate. but i just eat that kind of thing up. enjoy
